Mallin Residence
2252 W. Devon Avenue
Chicago, Illinois

John Mallin rented studio space in the Fine Arts Building at 410 S. Michigan in at least three different spaces, rooms 639, 736 and 412, probably in the 1930s and 1940s. A rental agreement from the Fine Arts Building in 1944 showed that he was leasing space from another tenant in room 639.  Another earlier brochure shows he was renting space in room 412.  A postcard for his business shows his room as 736.

Mallin also had studio space in the building he owned and lived in with his family at 2252 W. Devon in Chicago.  The basement in this building stored many of his art works, including family paintings.  When he retired in the early 1970s, he used the second floor living space to paint family portraits.  Several photos of his paintings at the Fine Arts Building and at his Devon Ave residence are shown here.
